The wait is finally over! You can now migrate your old bit.tube videos to your brand new BitTubers profile. The process is simple and straight forward. Follow these steps and you should be good to go. Alternatively, check out the KB article here.
Step 1. Sign into the BitTube browser extension with the account corresponding to your BitTubers profile. If you don’t have the extension yet, get it here.
Step 2. Migrating your videos requires that your BitTubers account is verified. If you are new to BitTubers, learn how to create and verify your account using the extension here. You can also verify your account on BitTubers.com under Settings → Verify your account here.
Step 3. When you are signed into the extension, visit bit.tube and proceed with linking your bit.tube account with your extension account.
Step 4. There should be a “Link Account” icon in the bottom left corner of the page.
In case both accounts use the same email address, they will be linked automatically.
If your email addresses don’t match, click Link Account. A sidebar overlay will pop up to confirm linking your bit.tube account to BitTube. Once successful, refresh the page.
Step 5. Now navigate to your bit.tube profile page.
Step 6. Hover your mouse cursor over one of your thumbnails. You should see a “MIGRATE” option.
Step 7. Click MIGRATE on the videos you wish to post to your BitTubers profile. The thumbnail will then show the progress of the migration process. You can migrate up to 10 videos at once, but be mindful not to overload the system.
(Note: due to some problems with the IPFS storage in the past, a small number of videos may not be retrievable for migration. In that case, you will get an error message.)
Step 8. Once completed, it should say “MIGRATED” in green.
That’s it! The video should soon appear as a new post in your BitTubers profile feed.
Lastly, some good news for our bit.tube veterans. We decided that migrated videos won’t affect your upload budget on BitTubers, so you can migrate as many videos as you like.
